Subaru Forester vs. Toyota Highlander

The 2019 Subaru Forester VS The Toyota Highlander

SUVs are becoming more popular as they are becoming more fuel efficient. And SUVs now come in all shapes and sizes, making it difficult for Springfield drivers to find the perfect one. Two popular SUVs that many of our customers consider are the Subaru Forester and the Toyota Highlander. One if a compact SUV and the other is a 3-row SUV. While the Subaru Forester may be smaller than the Highlander is has a lot to offer.

Powertrain

For many drivers one of the most important things that a new SUV has to offer is spirited and efficient performance. Which are two things that the Subaru Forester does better than the Toyota Highlander. The Highlander has two powertrain options to choose from, a four-cylinder and V6. The V6 powertrain offers more horsepower than the Forester but is not as efficient with 27 highway mpg. The Highlander four-cylinder is even less efficient with 24 highway mpg and 184 horsepower. The Subaru Forester, however, is powered by a new 2.5L four-cylinder that generates 182 horsepower and gets an impressive 33 highway mpg thanks to Auto Start-Stop technology. The Subaru Forester also comes standard with Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive for unmatched traction regardless of conditions.  All-wheel-drive will cost extra on the Toyota Highlander.

Advanced Safety

No matter where you may be going, everyone in the Taylorville area wants to get there safely. Which is why advanced safety features can be the deciding factor between two vehicles. Both the Highlander and Forester comes standard with advanced safety packages. But Subaru EyeSight Driver Assist Technology offers some features that aren't included in Toyota Safety Sense. And EyeSight is also more highly awarded as one of the best driver assist tech packages on the road. The Subaru Forester also offers more advanced safety features than Highlander that include LED Steering Responsive Headlights, High Beam Assist, Blind-Spot Detection / Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Reverse Automatic Braking, and the first of its class DriverFocus. Subaru DriverFocus is a brand new safety feature that monitors the drive to reduce distracted and drowsy driving by alerting them to take a break or refocus their attention on the road ahead.
