Subaru Ascent vs. Ford Explorer

The Subaru Ascent VS The Ford Explorer

Busy Springfield families need an SUV that can keep up with how busy life can get and it can be hard to find the SUV that has everything you are looking for with so many different makes and models to choose from. To help our customers easily find the information they are looking for we have done the hard work and compared the Ford Explorer to the all-new Subaru Ascent. This way all you need to do is make your way Green Subaru and get behind the wheel of the 2019 Ascent to fully experience everything it has to offer.

Powertrain & Performance

Fuel efficiency is just as important as capable performance to drivers and the 2019 Ascent delivers both. The Ford Explorer has three powertrain options that may have more horsepower under the hood but are not as fuel efficient. The Subaru Ascent is powered by a turbocharged 2.4L four-cylinder BOXER engine with 260 horsepower and gets an impressive 21 city and 27 highway mpg with Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive standard. The Ford Explorer is available with a less capable all-wheel-drive system that reduces its efficiency. The most efficient engine, a 2.3L EcoBoost four-cylinder, with all-wheel-drive only gets 18 city and 25 highway mpg. All-wheel-drive will also cost you extra on the Ford Explorer. Both SUVs are capable of towing up to 5,000 lbs.

Interior Space

Like many other Taylorville drivers looking at a 3-row SUV you are most likely in need of extra seats or extra space. Both the Explorer and Ascent are available in seven or eight seat configurations, but the Subaru Ascent offers more spacious seating and more flexible cargo space. The Ford Explorer only offers 151.5 cubic feet of passenger space with a maximum cargo area of 81.7 cubic feet. The Subaru Ascent, however, has 153.5 cubic feet of passenger space and 86.5 cubic feet flexible cargo room to meet your needs.

Advanced Safety

Like many Chatham drivers in the market for a new family SUV advanced safety features are very appealing. And this is just one more way that the Subaru Ascent outshines the Ford Explorer. The Ascent has more standard advanced safety features as well as more available advanced safety features than the Ford Explorer. Every Subaru Ascent comes standard with EyeSight Driver Assist Technology that includes Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist and Sway Warning, Pre-Collision Braking, and Pre-Collision Throttle Management. The Ford Explorer only offers some of these features for an additional cost. The Ascent is also available with LED Steering Responsive Headlights, High Beam Assist, Blind-Spot Detection / Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, and Reverse Automatic Braking.
