At night, bright lights can be distracting and can make it harder for you to see what's around you on Springfield, IL roads. Fortunately, many auto manufacturers have integrated auto-dimming rearview mirrors into some of their vehicles to help people deal with this issue. You'll find auto-dimming rearview mirrors in select models at Green Subaru.
During the day, an auto-dimming rearview mirror works just like a traditional one does. At night, the sensors in the mirror can detect bright lights. When they do, they emit an electric charge. This charge then causes a chemical reaction in the electrochromic gel that's sandwiched between the two layers of glass that make up the mirror. This reaction results in the gel turning a darker shade.
When the gel is darker, light will have a more difficult time passing through it. Bright lights will appear more dim when reflected through the mirror, and you'll have an easier time seeing.
